Nosy: It all starts with data

It's hard to improve anything without data. Your building is no exception. Whether your goal is to improve your building, improve a process, or improve productivity and wellbeing, Nosy can help.

We believe that getting the data you need to make your building smarter shouldn't be hard. It shouldn't be expensive. And it shouldn't be just for fancy new buildings.

So what does that actually mean?

It means that when we started designing Nosy, we went back to the drawing board. We talked with industry experts, like 3Flow and NREL, as well as a wide range of  people responsible for different buildings, from maintenance staff to facility managers, business owners and building trustees. We learned that existing solutions were too expensive and too complex. And multiple studies like this one back this up.

We quickly learned that we needed to think about the Total Cost of Ownership, not just the sticker price for the individual sensor.  You have to consider the cost of installation, purchase and ongoing maintenance. It turns out that in many cases, the installation and maintenance costs can be more than the cost of the sensor itself!

And complexity is, well, kind of complex. Building sensors, especially Nosy, aren't simple devices. But neither are smartphones, and those have become pretty easy to use.

You've got the data. now what?

Nosy may be the new kid on the block, but we think we know something other companies have forgotten.

Whatever problem you need Nosy to help with, you're probably responsible for a hundred other things too. While we are very proud of all the data Nosy collects, we are pretty sure you don't have the time to look at all of it.

So what do we think you want?

We think you want answers

If your focus is improving your building, this means useful answers to questions like:

  • How can I save money on your utility bills?
  • What are the biggest problems in my building?
  • What don't I know about my building that could be a problem?
  • How should I prioritize the building updates I need to make? What should I tackle first?

If you are more concerned with improving a process, maybe you need answers to questions like:

  • What has temperature and humidity looked like for the past six months?
  • Which days were the hottest/coolest?
  • Does a particular process significantly impact air quality?

And when it comes to wellbeing and productivity:

  • When is air quality low?
  • Are there patterns of low air quality that I can easily fix?
  • Is my building ventilation adequate?

Data is nice, but actionable insights are better!

An image of a monthly building report

We crunch the data so you don't have to. You can check the state of your building at any time using our dashboard. But every month we will also send you a custom report for your building. The report includes a summary so you can get a quick overview of any critical issues, but there's also a detailed breakdown so you can see exactly what's going on.

The detail includes analysis of temperature, humidity, indoor air quality, and Carbon Dioxide levels throughout the previous month. We also have specialized reports available, like a risk assessment for mold, building envelope analysis and more.

And if you need a custom report to support process or building improvements, just let us know.

Why should you care? The combination of data and actionable insights can save you money. It's that simple.

Focused on improving your building? Commercial buildings waste up to 30% of the energy they use, but tracking down that waste is hard. Nosy makes it easy.

But it doesn't end there. Aging facilities often suffer from poor ventilation, temperature issues, and inefficient systems that steadily increase operating expenses over time. Nosy helps you pinpoint these problems and provides actionable guidance to solve them, saving you time and money.

If you're focused on process improvements, we can help you match building conditions to better outcomes. That can make your processes more robust and help you spot issues before they become critical.

And if wellbeing and productivity is your focus, we can help there too. We can alert you to issues as they arise, and help you mitigate recurring problems, making your workspace better for everyone.

Nosy: Secure + Trusted + Safe

The last thing you need is another thing to worry about. That's why Nosy has been designed from the ground up with security in mind. Multiple layers of security are used throughout the Nosy platform to keep the system and your data secure.

Nosy sensors use Bluetooth Mesh to transmit data. With Bluetooth Mesh, only authenticated devices can communicate across the network. Sensors use a combination of network and device-specific keys to prove that they should be part of the network. While no system can guarantee that it is hacker-proof, this makes it very difficult for someone to hack.

Another advantage of Bluetooth Mesh is that it is very short range. You would have to be physically close to the building to hack the system. Other common systems, like Wi-Fi, can be attacked from a considerable distance away, making it easier for a bad actor to hide.

The data collected by Nosy sensors is stored on computers using industry-standard Linux. All servers use a variety of authentication and encryption methods to ensure the safety of your data.

We take security seriously, so you don't have to worry about it.

WHO IS NOSY MADE FOR?

Nosy was designed for older and smaller commercial buildings – the kinds of buildings where real work takes place and budgets are limited. Our customers don't have the time or the budget to undertake a full building remodel. But we think they should still have access to tools that can help them.

While we specialize in older and smaller buildings, our technology can accommodate a large variety of building types. The key is that Nosy provides actionable data so you can make actual, affordable changes to your building. Whether your goal is to improve your building, improve a process, or improve wellbeing and productivity, Nosy can help.

BUILDING TYPES

  • Commercial building (not residential)
  • Floorplan of 100,000 Square Feet or Less (9,200 squre meters)
  • Single or Multi-Floor
  • Any Type of Construction (Stick, Concrete, Brick, etc.)
  • Newer, Older or Historical Building

INDUSTRIES

  • Manufacturing
  • Healthcare
  • Municipality / Government
  • Hospitality
  • Education
  • And More!

HOW DOES NOSY WORK?

Nosy monitors your building 24/7. Each sensor takes thousands of readings each day. We analyze that data so we can tell you a lot about how your building operates and how it gets used. It just takes three steps to be ready to take action.

STEP 1 : INSTALL

Quickly install self-configuring Nosy sensors throughout your building. The average install time is under 2 minutes per sensor.

STEP 2 : GET DATA

Relax while Nosy automatically starts to collect environmental, energy and usage data from your building.

STEP 3 : ACT

Review data and insights from your monthly report. Take manual action, or integrate with other systems for automated remediation.

It really is that simple! We know you're busy, and the last thing you want is a complex and disruptive installation. Our goal is to make things as easy as possible.

1.

Nosy can be installed by just about anyone in as little as two minutes per sensor. It works with almost any small, commercial building.

2.

Once installed, the Nosy sensors will begin collecting data autonomously. We'll send a report on your building after a month with recommendations on affordable ways to save money and improve air quality.

3.

Once the data has started rolling in, our team will work with you on custom solutions to improve your building's energy efficieny and air quality. We look for affordable or simple changes to make first, backed up by real data from your building. Take manual action, or integrate with other systems for automated remediation.

We can help plan a wide range of actionable items, from identifying and helping resolve existing issues, to controlling setbacks to reduce waste, to mitigating the need for emergency maintenance, and even to help identify conditions condusive to mold growth.

Repeat

Buildings and HVAC systems don't suddenly stop aging, so why would we stop helping you? Not to mention that building usage changes over time. Nosy is built to last, and can keep gathering data to help you improve, whatever your goals. We are here to help you!
